Last weekend we went to Ella's house for a play date. The kids had so much fun! They laughed and played so well together. We had to snap a photo of them while they were all cute enjoying their snacks together (before they destroyed the house by dumping out all the toys that were in the cubes they were sitting on!). Sunday, Uncle Jon and Aunt Heather came over to watch the Colts vs. Broncos. Ian got to hold Peyton for the first time. He was so calm holding her while she let him know she wasn't that into it!
Monday night was a BIG night at our house. Yes, it was the Packers vs. Bears Monday night football game. But we had something much more exciting happen. Ian slept in his big boy bed for the first time!! Casey picked him up at early at Lily's since he would be at class and not able to see Ian until Tuesday morning. When they got home, Casey told him to go up to his room to see what was in his room and Ian took off running, yelling "Big Boy Bed!" I guess he has been listening to us this past week while we talked it up. He was so excited. He asked me to put Milo in the crib so I could take their picture together. We spent all evening in his room except for when we ate dinner. We read our usual 3 books and usually he begs for more, but this time he asked, "Can I go to bed now?" Absolutely!
I kept checking on him throughout the night to make sure he was okay. He looked so adorable! I couldn't believe how big he looked sleeping there. It made me sad to think he wasn't a little baby anymore, but he will always be my baby no matter what. We made it through the night with only one issue - he did fall out of bed at 3:45 AM. Fortunately, I was awake since I had just fed Milo. I heard him cry and ran into to see what happened. He was trying to crawl back into his bed and then he saw me, came running with his arms up. I picked him up and told him everything was okay. Kissed him and he fell back asleep. I don't think he remembers it at all because he has never mentioned it. Of course I was up the rest of the night going in to check on him, but he did fabulous! The next night we introduced the body pillow and that seems to be working great. The funny thing is...I don't think he knows he can get out of the bed on his own. In the mornings he still calls out for us and reaches up for us to pick him up out of bed. I am going with it for now because soon enough he will realize he has free roam of the house and our lives will never be the same!
