We are alive and well...I think.

Wow, we have had some CRAZY days of late.  I just realized how long it has been since my last post.  Well, you might want to take a seat for this one...

We had a pretty solid routine there for awhile.  Casey gets up early and is out of the house before any of us are even thinking about waking up!  Those who know me well know I love my sleep and it can take me a really long time to get myself going in the morning.  Thankfully my boys are just fine with it and actually prefer the breakfast in bed part of our day:)

I started a new job on June 18th - an HR Generalist for a start-up company in Westminster.  To add to everything going on, I was in a car accident.  Fortunately, I was fine and my car did fair well too.

My brother, not so much.  Yes, that's right.  I said my brother.  I was just telling Casey the night before that I needed to give my brother a call because I hadn't talked with him in a while.  The next day we were both driving home from work (we work 5 minutes from each other).  Suddenly, someone cut me off and slammed on their brakes, which forced me to do the same and well...you can see how it ended.  I am just fortunate we were fine and in the end, it was a pretty funny story to tell.

Our friends have a condo in Frisco and asked if we wanted to stay there over the 4th of July.  Um, yes please!  We knew this wasn't going to be a fireworks filled holiday for us this year.  Too much sadness in our state over the wildfires.  So, why not head to the mountains - escape the heat and relax for a few days.

Frisco is such a cute town.  I loved it!  Very quaint - reminded me a lot of Door County:)  There was a park nearby that we could walk to and they had a great playground and creek where the boys could throw rocks.  Perfect!

We took the gondola to Breckenridge one day.  Casey got most of the pictures during that trip.  It was fun and best of all, free!  We took it all the way to the Breckenridge Adventure Park when Casey and Ian rode the Alpine Slide.  So much fun!  Thankfully Milo likes to ride in this backpack so it is much easier to "tame" him.  He did freak when we all got ice cream and he couldn't hold his own, but a little chocolate and he was back to his happy self!

I surprised the boys with glow in the dark bubble light sabers one night.  They had a blast!  Casey also got some great pics of the bubbles.  It was a low-key night and not hearing the constant sounds of fireworks was a little weird.  We had a great time though and hope to take mountain trips more often.

The 3rd was our party night because we had to head home on the 4th so I could be back for work.  The boys stayed up a little later, played a little harder, and in the end slept quite well.  Milo was so excited that he actually got to sleep in the same bed with Ian.  It was the cutest!

Before heading out, we hit up the downtown Frisco 4th of July parade.  It was A-W-E-S-O-M-E!  This was the first parade that Ian could actually take part in.  We have taken him to a lot of parades, but he hasn't really been exposed to the throwing candy concept.  It took him awhile to warm up to it - I am sure he was thinking "there is no way my Mom has taken me some place where I can run into the street and snag candy." Which I kind of don't fault him for thinking.  It does seem a little unreal.  However, once he caught on he was in it to win it.  And did a great job of handing over the candy so he wasn't sick to his stomach by 11 AM.

This woman was singing "Proud to be an American" with ridiculously festive light up glasses.  Oh, and it was really LOUD.

Starting to catch on a bit more...you + waving = more candy!

This picture of Milo is awesome because it looks like he is blowing kisses to the crowd.  He probably was.

On the way back to our condo, there was a police man letting some kids check out his car.  Ian couldn't get in on the action fast enough.  He was giddy!

We got back just in time to have a 4th of July picnic with the Courtney family.  Good food and good friends are good enough for me.  Fireworks are just a bonus.

Milo is giving Mimi a kiss via FaceTime.

Kate snagged this HILARIOUS picture of Ian.  We coined it "The Ridiculously Photogenic Little Guy".  He is pretty darn photogenic.  Lil' heartbreaker o' mine.

The new job I mentioned earlier is no more.  Once we got back from Frisco, they moved my office and told me I had a new job in the Member Services department.  They tried to sell it to me this way, "It's just like HR.  Oh, except you don't report to the same person, you cannot have flexible hours, and will have to work on Saturdays,"  Um, no thank you.  I stuck it out for as long as I could and found out this week that I no longer have a job.  A hard lesson, but I will figure it out.  I should have trusted my gut, but isn't that only noticeable after the fact?  We will be fine, but it is tough.

In the meantime I am going to focus on the positives:  more time with my boys, time to get my house/business in order, more time with Casey and less of a work/life balance to worry about.  I just need to make it work and learn from the opportunity.  And hopefully blog more often:)
