Smile!

Ian had his first "official" dentist appointment yesterday.  He went with me last year, but it mainly involved playing with toys and watching me get my teeth cleaned.

We talked about his dentist appointment over the weekend and he remembered the toys.  I told him that this time he would be in the chair and not have as much time to play but that there would be a reward at the end for being a stellar patient:)  He did such a great job!  He got the full treatment - cleaning, fluoride, and x-rays.  He got to pick out a special prize at the end (race cars!) and a special toothbrush (Incredible Hulk!).  It is hard for me to believe my baby is growing so fast, but I love getting to experience all these firsts!

Happy Leap Day, friends!

Girls' Weekend

I flew to Atlanta President's Day weekend to hang with my BFF and her family.  Michelle flew to Colorado when Milo was a couple of months old and was a huge help in my adjustment to 2 kids.  So, I was happy to return the favor following the birth of her third baby girl.

We were up + out early on President's Day.  We took the girls to Fernbank and it was a fun filled day.  Daniela slept through most of it, but I think she enjoyed herself when she was awake:)

Hanging at the entrance with the girls, waiting on Michelle to join us.  I forgot the juggling involved with a newborn's schedule!  Seriously, it is too easy to forget those important details.  Not fair.

So many fun things to see and do.  The first exhibit was a bit crazy.  I took Sofia and Michelle took Elana - and if by chance we met up at some point it was a nice surprise:)  So many kids in one place.  It was fun to see all the little explorers and overhearing some funny stuff along the way!
We dined on our sack lunches with the dinosaurs.  It made me miss my boys - Ian would have loved it!

Being silly with the Berghoff girls!  We were dinosaurs, turtles, flew with cranes, and got to touch a blue-tongued skink.  It was the perfect way to spend a day out and about.  I think we were all ready for a little quiet time once we got back home.  Elana rubbed my back for an hour and I fell asleep on the couch:)  I had to prep for my night out with Michelle...

The saddest part of my trip was knowing that Ian was sick.  He was in good hands with Daddy + Milo, but it made me sad to know I wasn't there to be with him.  Casey sent me this picture Tuesday night and I was so happy to be heading home on Wednesday.

Craft time with the girls.  I brought canvas squares and glitter glue pens.  Super fun!
Sofia made the 2 on the left.  She drew lollipops and a garden.  Elana's are the 2 on the right - she drew a butterfly and flowers.  I made the heart for them:)
And Daniela slept through it all once again:)
A huge thanks to Janice Nodvin + Adar for taking care of the girls (complete with crying baby refusing a bottle), so Michelle and I could go out for a nice dinner and sip on Sangria while sharing silly stories past, present, and future.  Oh - and to Adar's parents (Beth + Paul) for taking care of said crying baby again on Tuesday for a couple of hours so we could have more QT girl time:)

My trip was short, but so much fun!  I had a blast with the girls.  It was a few days full of glitter, princesses, tutus, and pink.  All the things my life aren't on a daily basis - it was fun to be a girlie girl for a couple of days. Thanks to the Berghoff Family for a fab trip to Atlanta and I hope it isn't long before we get to be together again.
If this doesn't make you smile, then what will?  Have a great day!

What's shakin', bacon?

I love February - it is finally a time where we can all sit back, relax, and exhale!  We are go, go, go for so many months and finally February arrives and we embrace the laziness that comes with it.

Last Saturday, Casey took Ian to his first movie!  They went to see Star Wars Episode 1 in 3D.  I opted to stay home with Milo, after all I want to keep my streak of never seeing a complete Star Wars movie in tact.  I think Ian enjoyed it, but it was still a bit overwhelming - definitely not the same as curling up with your blanket on the couch and watching a movie.  Ian was a trooper though.  They didn't make it through the whole movie (I would have been shocked if they did!), but all in all it was a good time.

Ian and his fort he made with help from Daddy.  So cool!  I was running errands and Casey sent me this picture.  I love it:)  I was able to partake in the fun once I got home and I forgot how awesome a fort is.  We had a blast.

Brothers - they are just the cutest these days.  It is so much fun watching them play together.  Milo adores Ian and it sure seems like the feeling is mutual.  Milo decided to take the dance party to the next level and make it a pants off, dance off kind of celebration.  Ha!
I caught this adorable experience and SO wanted to get a video of it, but I knew if I tried to get my camera it would all be over so I settled for a picture.  Ian is putting on a concert for Milo - playing his guitar (big brother gift from Miss Maggie) and making up his own lyrics.  I love the songs he makes up - talk about hilarious!  Milo just sat there patiently and listened.  What you can't tell from the picture is Milo is tapping his hands and feet to the music and trying to sing along.  It is moments like these I just want to freeze.  I want to remember everything about this moment...what they were wearing, what they were singing, how they were laughing...it is beautiful and a blessing.
The boys surprised me with a 'just because' bouquet.   So sweet!  There were enough flowers to make 2 bouquets, but this was my favorite one:)
Valentine's Day has always been a holiday I could do without.  The candy is great, but other than that I am good with no celebration.  It helps that Casey and I went on our first date the day after Valentine's Day, so we choose to recognize that day instead.  However, with kids you have to put on your big girl pants and partake in the fun.  Right?  Ian had to make valentines for preschool and day care.  27 in all = great name writing practice!  He is doing such a great job learning how to write his name.  I am sure he will thank us later for only having to worry about 3 letters:)  It took 3 days, but he signed each and every one of them.  He even stamped the back of each card himself too.  So proud!

Snow Day!!

Last Thursday night a storm rolled through town and we got a LOT of snow!  Schools were closed, day care was closed and Daddy had to go to work.  In total, we probably had 15 inches of snow by Friday night.  The flakes just kept coming down.  The boys and I didn't leave the house at all.  We got to sleep in and watch a couple movies, take naps, and play games.  It was an incredible day!

Saturday we had a sled date with the Courtney's.  They have a sledding hill behind their house and it is perfect.  Ian and Ella had SO much fun!  Milo, not so much.  Casey and I took him down a couple of times, but he just didn't care for it.  He was more interested in touching and eating the snow.  Ha!  Ava loved it though.  As soon as she got to the bottom of the hill she would say "more!"  Too cute.

This video is hilarious!  Ian and Ella going down the hill together for the first time.  Enjoy:)
