Ian's [not so] secret admirer

Sometimes it is hard for me to imagine that my "baby" is going to be 2 in just under two months.  The key word is "sometimes" because just when I start to forget about it, he blows a gasket over something and is in a tizzy before I can even say, "What happened?"  Aaaahhhhhh yes, I do remember this phase.

It is trying - a true test of patience and for those of you who know me...I don't have a lot to go around.  Let's just say these past few days there has been a lot of counting to 10 (even in different languages!), breathing in and breathing out, and A LOT of redirection.

Last Thursday was quite a night for us.  All Ian wanted to do was go to sleep and all Milo wanted to do was rock n' roll.  He was up until almost 10 PM!  It was unreal.  He kept climbing out of his crib, must have been list 8 times before all was said and done.  He would just laugh and had such a proud look on his face.  He was the only one though...the rest of us were OVER. IT.  Whew.  We did survive and decided to go upstairs to check on them and this is what we found...
Milo just wanted to be sleeping next to Ian!

Thursday night was the catalyst for removing the side off his crib.  I have to admit, I wanted nothing to do with it.  Ian was in his crib until almost 3 and I was hoping the same for Milo, but not so much.  Even when we did move Ian into his own bed, he never got out.  I think it was almost 8 months before he even TRIED to get out of his bed.  Milo is on it though - he knows he can get out and by God, he is going to do it.

I know Ian needs his own space, but seriously...is this not the cutest thing you have ever seen?  I just couldn't pick Milo up and move him to his own bed when I saw this last night.  My first instinct was to smile (which I did!), my next was to grab my phone so I could take a picture and share with the world.
We definitely want to do bunk beds, but I think we will have to wait until they are a bit older.  However, we can go ahead and purchase the twin bed that we will use in the bunk beds and we could just put their mattresses together.  So, it is like they are sleeping together but still have their own bed?  It is all trial + error for now.  The one thing I do know is that Milo isn't going to sleep alone when he has a cozy spot next to his big brother (aka hero), I mean - would you?

Nothing says summer like...

the pool opening!!  Hooty!  It was an exciting day in the Andrews household last Saturday.  The pool means many things, but for me it means this:
Pool + Snacks + the hot Colorado sun = exhausted kids and quiet time for Mommy when we return home!

The pool opened on Saturday AM at 10. Kate and I decided the night before that we would aim for arriving at 10 AM. We were both SHOCKED when we actually arrived before 10 AM. That is so unlike us!!
Milo was in awe - he just stood in the entryway for what seemed like 5 minutes...staring at the huge oasis of water, the fountains, the overflowing buckets.  He was either thinking "Wow, what is this fabulous place my Mommy has taken me too?"  or "What in the hell, this is what you meant by the pool?  I am not getting in there."

As usual, Milo was the one being too cool for school and refused to wear his hooded towel for the fabulous photo op.  The Easter Bunny brought these for the kids this year and they are so cute.  We have a dolphin (Milo), a pirate (Ian), a mermaid (Ava), and a garden girlie (Ella).  The bonus of these towels is the kids can change their clothes under the towel without exposing themselves to all the patrons at the Roosevelt Pool.
The boys enjoyed snacks and watching an episode of DirtGirlWorld after lunch and quiet time/naps.  Mommy enjoyed just being able to relax for a few minutes!
We were supposed to head over to Uncle Jon's on Saturday, but some nasty weather came our way.  So, we rescheduled for Sunday.  It had been too long since we all got together, so we were ready for some fun!
Peyton and Ian loved the wader pool.  Milo was a casual observer on the outskirts:)
Milo kept pointing to Uncle Jon's tattoo and saying, "Hot."
A little wheelbarrow fun for all the kiddos!

Warm milk and bunny - it's really all you need to make life better:)
Talkin' cars with Uncle Jon - his favorite topic!  I am thinking The Racecar Alphabet might need to join our library too.
So I got a new bath mat on Saturday.  It is a memory foam mat and I was telling Ian how comfortable it was.  I made a remark similar to, "It's so comfy you could sleep on it."  I went to pick out the boys' outfits for the day on Monday and came into the bathroom to find Ian "pretend" sleeping on the floor.  I will save this picture for when he goes off to college.  ha!  I am hoping he never passes out on a bathroom floor, but if he finds himself in that situation I sure hope he has a comfy place to lay!
