It wouldn't be the end of summer without some road rash on Ian's face. Poor kid! He's rough + tumble though. For the most part, takes it all in stride (ex: he fell off the top playground landing tonight - a few tears were shed and we checked for blood, no blood = Ian saying, "I want to try again."). It was a nasty scab, but quickly healed. Whew...
We had to take advantage of an end of summer hike a couple of weekends ago. While on the hike I realized it was my first official hike since we have lived here. WTF?! I know, right? I could come up with several excuses, but the truth is I am just more of a beach girl.
Milo and I have had some fun times while Ian is at school. He does nap while Ian is at school, but some days the naps are short. When I caught this glimpse of him the other day I totally shot forward and saw him as a teenager for an instant. Ha!
Being a Mom of two boys is awesome! I love each and every day - some challenging, some not - I am trying to soak it all in because I know one day I will return to work full-time and not be able to enjoy these moments. While I could pass on the excruciating pain of stepping on Legos, I wouldn't trade all the cool memories being built in our home right now:)
We've spent the last few days passing this construction site. They've had various areas shut down, but the other day we were able to get the best curbside seats ever. It was awesome! A perfect way to unwind after school for sure.
The #1 thing I love about not being at work right now is being able to spend time with my boys in the morning. Anyone who knows me, knows I am NOT a morning person. Not even remotely close to being a morning person either. With Casey's new work schedule (which I LOVE!), it is always me in the mornings. So, while working would be nice and I look forward to making $ again soon - these times are the best and I am so blessed to have them at this moment.
Saturday started off as a spontaneously awesome day! We slept in a bit and decided to lazily make our way to our first farmer's market of the season. Upon arrival, we saw they were also having a kids' truck day. They had a tow truck, buggies, Schwan's truck (giving out free ice cream!), derby car, school bus, and tractor/trailer - all for the kids to climb on and explore. It was very cool and a donation only event! The boys had so much fun, despite not feeling the best.
Milo made it until 1 PM for his nap + woke up pretty sluggish. Ian was bagged out in our room. Ian had told us most of the morning that he didn't feel well and he clearly wasn't himself. I was happy to see him getting some rest because I think he needed it. Unfortunately, Milo became sick Saturday night after dinner and made for a slow goin' Sunday. I am glad we didn't have any plans for the weekend because it forced us to really just relax.
