Happy Mother's Day

My little man is napping...my husband is at work...and I am trying to wash that gray right out of my hair! I am relaxing and trying to recover from this nasty cold I've been fighting off for the last week.

I woke up this morning to Ian running into the room screaming, "Mommy, I draw!" He handed me a card with his sweet signature on the inside. I enjoyed a breakfast of french toast and bacon with my family, then took my son to the park to burn off some excess energy.

I picked Ian up at Lily's on Friday and he handed me a red bag. Lily told me Ian had picked it out all by himself. I was delighted to find a handmade Mother's Day card (complete with dinosaur and robot stickers!) and this adorable mug. I love it!

Last weekend was a tough one - Ian had his first bout with strep throat. Yikes! He woke up from his nap on Saturday with a high fever and we monitored it througout the night. On Sunday it was still fairly high and by 6:30 AM he had thrown up. We decided Urgent Care was in our near future - they did a couple of tests and decided we should start him on Amoxicillin. Poor little guy was a mess, but we sure loved all the cuddling time. We also learned last month that he has to have his tonsils and adenoids removed. I realize it is a fairly common procedure and have heard good things from other parents I have spoken with about it, but I am still nervous. I guess this was a little test run for all of us...

Last Thursday Casey and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary! My cold was in full force, but I was determined to have date night with husband on Friday. Maggie and John came over to watch Ian for us while Casey and I enjoyed a nice dinner at Tortuga's in Longmont. I had heard good things about this place so I decided now was the time to check it out. It was pretty good and I loved the quaint atmosphere. I definitely must return when I can enjoy some yummy cocktails on the patio! The only down side was that I couldn't really taste my food - I think it was delicious, but I will have to go back when I have all my senses just to confirm!

We finally upgraded the light in our kitchen. I wish I could be writing about an entire kitchen remodel, but that is years to come. Although some new flooring on the main level would be nice! I'll take a new light for now.
