Bikes & Babes

Ian was finally able to get together with his friend, Ella, for the much anticipated wagon ride. Of course, I don't have proof - but trust me. We walked to the park and played on the swings. It was so much fun! Except for the squeaks - note to City of Longmont: WD-40 @ Carr Park on the baby swings, please. The kids didn't mind though. Ian and Ella had fun making googly eyes back and forth at each other. Grandma and Grandpa Schneider arrived from IN last Thursday. Ian has been blessed with seeing all of his grandparents this summer! We enjoyed a few days together, but they were also in town to visit family from Minnesota. They were in Cheyenne for Frontier Days - it was a great chance for everyone to get together. We also took Ian to Sunflower Farm since Grandma and Grandpa weren't able to join us at The Farm in DC. He enjoyed it, but in a couple of years he will LOVE it. There was a zipline, tree playhouse and many other places to explore, so I know we will go back again. He was excited to see the pigs and feed the goats!
In our basement, is a picture of Casey when he was about Ian's age and he is sitting on a tractor - looking right at the camera. It is one of my favorite pictures. So, when I saw the tractor at Sunflower Farm I wanted desperately to replicate that photo with Ian. No such luck though. He was not going to look at me, but he sure had a blast driving the tractor!
They also brought us an extra special treat from IN - morels. Yummy! The best. Better than Little Mexico. That's saying a lot. We enjoyed them for dinner one evening. Heather was able to try them for the first time since she missed out at the lake. Ian jumped right in to help Grandma! I received some fabulous news last week. I was offered the position of Benefits Coordinator at Level 3 Communications. My tentative start date is July 27th. I am so nervous and excited! I think this will be a great opportunity for me and I am looking forward to it. Yesterday was my last day at CRI. I wanted to take a few days to relax and get things done around the house. July has been a busy month for us thus far and my house shows it:)

Mom & Bob headed home on Tuesday. Ian had so much fun with them - he especially loved the snacks they brought with them. Thatta boy! Is it really bribery when snacks are the reward? Ian gobbled up the plane cookies from Southwest Airlines.
Things are slowing down a bit now and that is a good thing. We have been on the go since April so this is a welcomed break. Casey's schedule at work is starting to pick up and I will be back to FT work soon. Ian continues to be a ball of fun - running around like a mad man from the minute he wakes up. We love it though! He is so active and talking a lot. I swear he calls me Melissa sometimes, which I find cute and surprising. He calls me Mommy more, so I will let it slide;)

Casey also had a pretty good week - he got a new bike! He is over the moon to say the least! He has waited patiently for the past couple of years and now it is his time for some fun. It all went down this morning before he headed to work. Ian was quite intrigued by this new machine as well. All I know is it is Silver and a Honda. I'll let him tell you the rest. Congrats, babe!

As promised...some cute photos of Ian on Lake Michigan. We are eager to sign him up for swim lessons, but will likely wait until next summer when things are slightly calmer. At least we are hoping it will be calmer. Enjoy!

Lastly, I have been feeling crafty (and discouraged) lately. They have the cutest stuff for girls, but it seems like all of the clothing for boys is "blah". Can I get a hell yeah from all my mommy friends with boys? Don't get me wrong, there is some cute stuff out there - I get sucked into a new website at least every other day. But what I can't do is justify spending more on my son's t-shirts than I do on my own. I have stumbled upon a few gems - obviously, because he has a dresser full of clothes. I spend most of my time on Etsy to score those, but as far as mainstream goes it is a pretty big disappointment. So, I decided to make some of my own. Just a couple of iron-on patches and voila! New cute t's for my little man!
